ABOUT MIFF
Malawi International Film festival 2009 will be the first ever Film festival in the history of Malawi. It has been established with an aim of developing the film industry. This yearly event will be taking place in the month of September.
There has been a great response from interested diplomatic corps and the government of Malawi through the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Culture has committed to support the festival.
The festival will create a platform for cultural exchange and reestablish a culture of cinema going.
Founder & Director
Villant Ndasowa is the founder and director of Malawi International Film Festival. Villant’s filmmaking experience comes from working in Media Industry for about ten years, involved in both local and international documentary productions and qualified BA (Hon) Fine Art - Media Production (Film and TV).
She is passionate about documentaries. So far her documentaries that have made it on international platform are ‘The Mystery Mountain, Where my heart belongs and In the Mirror.
Her vision is to see the film industry growing in Malawi and that can be achieved if long term trainings are made available in all areas of film production be it acting, sound composition, motion designing, editing and directing among others.
